The Veltia Hand Dryer has a unique feature: the ZEROSMELL TECHNOLOGY

Every time the Hand Dryer is used, it flushes into the air the ZeroSmell Active Principles. These are molecules that react with the foul-smelling compounds. The reaction yields molecules that have no smell. Like this, besides drying your hands, the Hand Dryer improves the atmosphere of the Washroom.

Veltia has chosen to have their products tested with UL as it provides the most extensive and thorough tests available. There are quicker, less expensive, less trusted alternatives to UL, but why would you skimp on something this important.

As a consumer, what does the UL Mark mean to me?
The UL Mark is one of the most recognized, accepted and trusted symbols in the world. It says something about the products you may purchase; it's your one assurance that steps have been taken in the interest of safety.

Who is behind the Mark?
The UL Mark stands for Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL), a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that was formed in 1894 to help reduce injury, loss of life and property damage. Behind the UL Mark is a staff of more than 5,000 engineers, scientists, chemists, technicians, field representatives and support staff - a team dedicated to working for a safer world.

Who uses UL's services?
Manufacturers submit products to UL for testing and safety certification on a voluntary basis. But most manufacturers are concerned with the safety of their products and they know safety-conscious and concerned consumers look for the UL Mark on products they buy. Use of UL is not required by law. However, in the U.S. there are many municipalities that have laws, codes or regulations which require a product to be tested by a nationally recognized testing laboratory before it can be sold in their area. UL is the largest and oldest nationally recognized testing laboratory in the United States.

ACCESSABILITY CONSIDERATIONS

Placement of accessories should allow easy usage by people with limited range of motion. The needs of a person seated in a wheel chair should be used as a guide to the accommodation of a person using crutches, cane or a walker. If possible locate the dryer in an area adjacent to a barrier-free lavatory.

Height recommendation for hand dryers is 38”- 48” with operable parts at 40” off finished floor. Sufficient space for front or side access (30”x 48”) should be provided.

The Veltia dryer has been designed to allow for suitable toe and knee clearance for the wheelchair user. As the dryer dries both sides of the hand at the same time, does not require the user to move hands up and down or require the rubbing of hands together for quick drying it is very suitable for use by the disabled. Veltia Dryer: Mount top of dryer at 42” for ADA. This puts the sensor at 40”.
Local and state codes may apply, please check with local building department prior to installation.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

Hand dryers in general should be placed between the lavatory and the exit door. To reduce water being tracked across the room it is best to have the hand dryer next to the lavatory. This helps reduce any slip hazard. The Veltia dryer collects the water from the hands further reducing water spills. As a general rule there should be one hand dryer for every two lavatories.
